Mazda is a brand that consistently delivers innovation. Whether it’s the clever MX-30 with its smart range-extender powertrain or the famous MX-5 sports car, this brand is always at the cutting edge of motoring.
Next year looks set to be an even more exciting 12 months for Mazda than usual, and here at David Hayton, we’ve got the inside track of what to expect from Mazda in 2026. Let’s take a look.
Mazda 6e
One of the hot new additions to the Mazda range in 2026 will be the 6e. It arrives to showcase Mazda’s electric intent and acts as something of a replacement for the popular 6 saloon. Available with a choice of two battery packs, the 6e will manage up to 298 miles between charges. Thanks to a maximum charge speed of 165kW, the 6e can be taken from 10 to 80 per cent in just 24 minutes.
A ‘Long Range’ version will feature a larger battery, allowing it to manage up to 343 miles between trips to the charger.
Inside, you’ll find all of the very latest technology that Mazda has to offer. There’s a large horizontal infotainment screen incorporating all of your media and navigation functions, as well as smartphone integration systems like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Just like the previous 6 model, the 6e focuses on practicality, too. It’s why you’ll find an impressively large boot at the rear - measuring 466 litres with the seats up or 1,074 litres with them folded down - and there’s even an extra 72 litres in the ‘frunk’ at the car’s front for storing the charging cables.
Exterior design-wise, the 6e certainly takes some influence from the previous 6, but it’s around the back of the car where things really change. There’s a sharp ‘tail’ with a full-width lightbar, while the low, sweeping roofline gives the whole car a more dynamic appearance.
Mazda CX-5
Later in the year, Mazda will also play host to the arrival of a replacement for one of its most popular vehicles - the CX-5. The third-generation car will hit the road with the brand’s famous 2.5-litre e-Skyactiv-G petrol engine, which brings a compact 24-volt electric motor for improved efficiency.
There’s going to be a big uplift in technology inside, too, with screens of either 12.9 or 15.6 inches available, depending on specification. There’s also a sharp 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster for all key driver readouts, replacing the conventional dials.
Jeremy Thomson, managing director, Mazda Motors UK, said: “The CX-5 is an incredibly important car in Mazda’s history, and I’m excited for the third-generation model to join Mazda’s SUV line-up next year.
“From the launch of the original first-generation car in 2012, the CX-5 has been a hugely popular choice for UK SUV buyers who have loved its style, quality and driver engagement, and having recently surpassed 100,000 sales in the UK, it’s clear this ever-popular SUV has seen amazing customer loyalty and satisfaction.”
Don’t think that Mazda has put practicality to one side with the CX-5, however. In fact, the new CX-5 gets 61 litres of extra boot space over its predecessor, totalling 567 litres. Additionally, the rear seats can be folded 40:20:40, providing greater flexibility in terms of load-carrying capacity.
You’ll still be able to get either two- or four-wheel-drive from the CX-5, too, and Mazda says that it’ll be able to tow up to 2,000kg, which should continue this car’s popularity as a caravan-pulling favourite.
We’re expecting the new CX-5 to arrive at the very start of 2026 - a welcome opener to the new year.
Here at David Hayton, we’re proud to offer the very latest Mazda vehicles, and with the new 6e and CX-5 on the way, we’re sure that 2026 will prove very exciting indeed.
