The Benefits of Contract Hire: Mazda CX-60 & CX-80

Fri 31st Oct 2025

Contract Hire is a popular way of paying for a new car. It’s great for people who like the flexibility to switch between new cars every few years, and, with fixed payments, it’s a good option for those who like to keep to a budget.

Here at David Hayton, we offer Personal Contract Hire - or PCH - on a variety of great new cars, including Mazda’s latest CX-60 and CX-80 models. But what is this payment method, and how could it work for you? Let’s find out.

What is Personal Contract Hire?

Personal Contract Hire - or PCH, for short - is effectively a way of renting a car over a long-term period. You’ll never formally own the car and, instead, will be renting it from the supplier. Usually, this agreement is for a few years, but here at David Hayton, we offer flexible solutions to help with all kinds of drivers.

You’ll make fixed monthly payments and then, at the end of the agreement, you’ll simply hand the car back. From there, you’re free to walk away entirely or start up a new PCH agreement with a brand new car.

What are the benefits of PCH?

One of the key benefits of PCH is freedom. You can choose from a wide range of new cars here at David Hayto,n and after a few years, you’ll be able to hand the vehicle back and switch into something newer.

With regular monthly payments, it’s easy to keep track of your spending when using PCH, too. Plus, these monthly payments are often lower than if you were buying the car through a different type of financing.

What are the downsides of PCH?

If you like the idea of owning your own car, then PCH isn’t going to be right for you. Once that agreement period is over, you’ll have to hand the car back to the retailer, and there’s no option to purchase it as there is with other finance types.

You’ll be on a set agreement term and, if your situation changes and you need to leave the contract, there could be additional charges. Speak to the team at David Hayton if you’d like to find out more about these.

PCH agreements will nearly always come accompanied by a fixed mileage limit, too. Go over this, and you’ll have to pay a charge, usually in an amount per mile over the agreement.

Finally, you’ll need to make sure that you look after any car you’ve got through PCH, as any damage or scratches can invoke penalty charges when you reach the end of your agreement.

What cars can I get via PCH at David Hayton?

Think that PCH could be the right option for you? You’re in luck - it’s an option that we offer here at David Hayton, and we’re pleased to be able to deliver it via some very exciting new cars.

Mazda CX-60

The CX-60 is Mazda’s do-it-all vehicle. Available with a smooth-running plug-in hybrid setup, the CX-60 brings the best of both worlds. You’ve got the background support of a punchy petrol engine, but you can also get up to 29 miles of electric-only range from a single charge.

Inside, you’ve got loads of the latest technology to use. There’s a fully integrated 12.3-inch infotainment system, and it’s here that you’ll access media and navigation functions, alongside smartphone mirroring systems like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Mazda CX-80

Need a little more space? The CX-80 is here for you. It’s currently Mazda’s largest SUV and, as a result, is its most spacious, too. With seating for up to seven people, the CX-80 is great for big families or larger groups, but like any Mazda, it’s equipped with top-notch materials to ensure that each trip feels as premium as can be.

It’s available with a variety of powertrains, too, including an efficient plug-in hybrid, which can return up to 38 miles of electric-only running. It means that you should be able to do most shorter trips or around-town jaunts without requiring the petrol engine whatsoever.
