Our response to the COVID-19 virus situation

May 4th Update

We have been away for 6 weeks since lockdown was introduced in March, this is the longest our Southport, Lancaster, Kendal and Carlisle branches have not been able to support our customers and local communities.

As a family-run business, we have missed our staff, customers and fellow businesses alike and thank you for your patience along the way. Although we could have remained open across all locations, we wanted to support social distancing and made the decision to limit the exposure by consolidating our efforts to our Penrith location.  

May 4th sees the re-opening of our Southport & Kendal service departments where we have changed a few practices to further install the 2m social distancing, everyone is now accustomed to. 

Please bear with us, we will be doing our very best to ensure we offer the same friendly award-winning customer service you would expect from David Hayton and we look forward to seeing you soon.


Update 30th March 2020

We have now closed our Southport Peugeot & Mazda, Lancaster Peugeot & Autostore, Kendal Peugeot and Carlisle Peugeot, Mazda & Lotus Service Departments until further notice. Emails are monitored remotely, calls are diverted to Penrith, please bear with us and we will respond in due course.

Our Penrith Service Department remains open to offer continued support for Key Workers, NHS Staff and Community Health Workers during this difficult time.


Update 24th March 2020

Our Service Departments throughout the Group are still open.  We wanted to make sure we can provide support to any emergency services or community health workers who might need it during this difficult time – our doors are open. 

However, our Sales Departments & Car Showrooms must now close in line with the UK Government instruction.


With the COVID-19 situation changing day by day, we’d like to reassure you that David Hayton is doing all we can to ensure the health and safety of our hardworking employees, valuable customers and the wider community.

While it’s business as usual at David Hayton we will continue to follow government advice on preventative measures, such as:

  • Increasing the frequency of cleaning throughout our premises

  • Encouraging regular hand washing by staff

  • Providing handwashing facilities and sanitiser for all visitors and customers

  • Maintaining social distancing

  • Ensuring that any of our team that display COVID-19 symptoms, or have been in contact with those who do, are self-isolating.


We will closely monitor the situation and amend our activities, whenever necessary, as recommended by the relevant authorities.


David Hayton would love to see you at our showroom(s) but we understand that this will be difficult for many at this time. We would like to remind those who are self-isolating that our website provides all of the information you need to make an informed decision to start the buying process online. We can also offer a quote for part exchange, along with a range of competitive payment options, all without having to leave your home.


Our experienced sales advisors are here to help with any query, in person, via email or phone and once your purchase is complete, if you can’t collect, we’ll deliver the car to you.
